What is a Golf Travel Insurance?

Golf is a common hobby among travelers, and there are beautiful golf resorts you can visit all around the world. If you are one of those people who enjoy combining golf with your travels, read on. When you start preparing for your golf trip, you need to remember one important thing on top of everything else: a golf travel insurance. It is an insurance which gives you the coverage most regular travel insurances fail to offer: it protects you against any golf-related accident. You might think that golf is such a peaceful sport with no physical contact that there is absolutely no reason for an insurance, but you might want to think again. It only takes one unfortunate hit.

A golf holiday insurance can protect you against things like:

  • accidents which cause you to seek medical help. Several thousands of people have to get medical help every year as a direct consequence of an accident which happened on the golf course
  • you hurting other people or damaging the surroundings. Your golf ball is hard and travels fast, and one failed hit can cost you a shocking amount of money if the ball hits something it wasn’t supposed to
  • coverage against your golf equipment being stolen or damaged, and cover the rental equipment costs if you are unable to use your own gear. This is especially important if you travel a lot by plane, because you need to check your golf bag in, which raises the risk of the gear being damaged or even stolen
  • cancellations. Often you have to pay expensive, non-refundable green fees for your whole holiday time. If you have to cancel your holiday completely, become unable to play for some reason (illness or accident) or have to cut your holiday short, the insurance will cover your golf-related financial losses
  • hole-in-one celebrations. A golf travel insurance covers the hefty bar bill in the lucky case of a hole-in-one, when you are supposed to buy a round of drinks to everyone there at the golf club

And you know how real life can be stranger than stories: every now and then there are events NOBODY could imagine. Just some time ago there was this golf player who tried to hit his ball out of the bushes but somehow managed to hit a rock instead, which then caused a spark. Unfortunately the area was covered with dry grass, and 12 acres of forest burned down. Luckily the man in question was not charged over the fire, but this is a good example of the things that can happen. And when they do, you really want to have a golf holiday insurance.
