A vast majority of golf players walk across a golf course. However, golf is a treacherously tiring game and golfers require large amounts of stamina to survive a 18 hole golf course, and yet keep their concentration. Thus, golf carts are fast gaining in popularity, as the preferred mode of transport for golfers, as these save both the physical and mental stamina for golfers. Once a person has made sure that the golf course of his choice allows the use of golf carts, used golf carts may often be the economical choice for him. Certain clubs do offer cart services, which can be used by one and all.

Golf carts do run on gasoline but buying an electric golf cart can save large amount s of money.  While buying a used cart, budget concerns may exist. Although the initial cost of an electric cart may be higher, the gasoline charges make up for this investment in the long run. Gasoline golf carts have higher power and thus can be easily driven up slopes. These cars are more durable than their electric counterparts. However, due to the pollution that they create, gasoline golf carts may be banned in certain states. While buying a gasoline cart, mileage levels must be checked. In a used old cart, the fumes may be highly polluting although newer versions are more environmental friendly. The gas used in old carts may often be leaking. Electric carts however hardly have any running costs; they are more powerful and silent. The green technology that goes into the manufacture of these cars makes them costlier.

When buying an electric golf cart, attention should be given to both the battery and its connector’s condition, as these may add to maintenance costs. On a single charge, the mileage should be tested. The control and steering of the cart is also vital, and these must be checked with the help of a test drive. Brakes used in the golf cart should be gentle on the grass and yet strong, as golf carts may cause damage to the green cover when they are stopped.  The tires should be relatively new or in a good shape. Used golf carts are not a good option if they have to be repaired, as a lot of investment may get stuck into the cart without it even moving properly. Certain golf carts come equipped with GPS systems which help players calculate the distance between various holes. Manufacturers also offer refurbished golf carts for sale, which generally come with a small warranty. These are used cars which have gone through major repairs.
