Golf is a common hobby among travelers, and there are beautiful golf resorts you can visit all around the world. If you are one of those people who enjoy combining golf with your travels, read on. When you start preparing for your golf trip, you need to remember one important thing on top of everything else: a golf travel insurance. It is an insurance which gives you the coverage most regular travel insurances fail to offer: it protects you against any golf-related accident. You might think that golf is such a peaceful sport with no physical contact that there is absolutely no reason for an insurance, but you might want to think again. It only takes one unfortunate hit.
A golf holiday insurance can protect you against things like:
- accidents which cause you to seek medical help. Several thousands of people have to get medical help every year as a direct consequence of an accident which happened on the golf course
- you hurting other people or damaging the surroundings. Your golf ball is hard and travels fast, and one failed hit can cost you a shocking amount of money if the ball hits something it wasn’t supposed to
- coverage against your golf equipment being stolen or damaged, and cover the rental equipment costs if you are unable to use your own gear. This is especially important if you travel a lot by plane, because you need to check your golf bag in, which raises the risk of the gear being damaged or even stolen
- cancellations. Often you have to pay expensive, non-refundable green fees for your whole holiday time. If you have to cancel your holiday completely, become unable to play for some reason (illness or accident) or have to cut your holiday short, the insurance will cover your golf-related financial losses
- hole-in-one celebrations. A golf travel insurance covers the hefty bar bill in the lucky case of a hole-in-one, when you are supposed to buy a round of drinks to everyone there at the golf club
And you know how real life can be stranger than stories: every now and then there are events NOBODY could imagine. Just some time ago there was this golf player who tried to hit his ball out of the bushes but somehow managed to hit a rock instead, which then caused a spark. Unfortunately the area was covered with dry grass, and 12 acres of forest burned down. Luckily the man in question was not charged over the fire, but this is a good example of the things that can happen. And when they do, you really want to have a golf holiday insurance.

A vast majority of golf players walk across a golf course. However, golf is a treacherously tiring game and golfers require large amounts of stamina to survive a 18 hole golf course, and yet keep their concentration. Thus, golf carts are fast gaining in popularity, as the preferred mode of transport for golfers, as these save both the physical and mental stamina for golfers. Once a person has made sure that the golf course of his choice allows the use of golf carts, used golf carts may often be the economical choice for him. Certain clubs do offer cart services, which can be used by one and all.
Golf carts do run on gasoline but buying an electric golf cart can save large amount s of money. While buying a used cart, budget concerns may exist. Although the initial cost of an electric cart may be higher, the gasoline charges make up for this investment in the long run. Gasoline golf carts have higher power and thus can be easily driven up slopes. These cars are more durable than their electric counterparts. However, due to the pollution that they create, gasoline golf carts may be banned in certain states. While buying a gasoline cart, mileage levels must be checked. In a used old cart, the fumes may be highly polluting although newer versions are more environmental friendly. The gas used in old carts may often be leaking. Electric carts however hardly have any running costs; they are more powerful and silent. The green technology that goes into the manufacture of these cars makes them costlier.
When buying an electric golf cart, attention should be given to both the battery and its connector’s condition, as these may add to maintenance costs. On a single charge, the mileage should be tested. The control and steering of the cart is also vital, and these must be checked with the help of a test drive. Brakes used in the golf cart should be gentle on the grass and yet strong, as golf carts may cause damage to the green cover when they are stopped. The tires should be relatively new or in a good shape. Used golf carts are not a good option if they have to be repaired, as a lot of investment may get stuck into the cart without it even moving properly. Certain golf carts come equipped with GPS systems which help players calculate the distance between various holes. Manufacturers also offer refurbished golf carts for sale, which generally come with a small warranty. These are used cars which have gone through major repairs.

Golf, to an extent, is quite a discouraging game and is one of the only games where you have to aim for a lower score. Basically, it takes hundreds and thousands of practice to be able to be proficient in it. However, there are ways for you to improve the way you play the game. Most of the time, you just need to be told the right ways on how to do it, particularly how to lower golf score, and then you’re good to go. There are three basic things you have to remember as ways in lowering your golf score.
The first thing you need to do is to work on your drive. Basically, the farther you are able to hit the ball, the better your score is going to be. You just need to have your driving practice at any driving ranges.. You also have to loosen up a little, you need not be strangling the club to be able to hit the ball to have a good distance. More likely, you are able to drive better if you are relaxed. If your problem is that you have a bad slice, you will have to adjust your stance. A slice is caused when the club face is not able to hit the ball when it is in its vertical position. Read the rest of this entry »

The Canary Island of Lanzarote is known for many things, great food, volcanoes, surfing and golf. The Lanzarote Golf Resort is the newest place to play on the island. For many, many years Costa Teguise was the only golf course on the island. In 2009 the Golf Resort opened.
It shares many similarities with its sister course. Both are 18 holes, par 72. The Lanzarote Golf Resort is near Puerto del Carmen, south of Arrecife. The older course, Costa Teguise, is north of the capital. Both of them make good use of the natural landscape. This is a wonderful surprise the first time you step on to the green at Teguise, because it opened in 1972.
What would Lanzarote golf be without Lanzarote weather? It is not the only reason to love golfing in the Canary Islands, but all of that sunshine and warm weather make this the place to golf year round. Each of the islands has a unique weather pattern. Lanzarote, with its proximity to Africa, is among the most temperate. The cool Atlantic waters mingle with equatorial water surging north and it keeps Lanzarote cool. The African breezes help to bring warmth in the Winter. The low height of the few mountains keeps rainfall to a minimum. All in all, the perfect micro climate. In a given year, you can play golf 300 days. That is how little it rains.
There are things to do besides golfing, of course. The island is home to several species of birds and birdwatching on a breezy 70 degree day sure beats doing the same thing in rainy 50 degree weather! Other fun outdoor activities include touring the cactus garden, visiting the tip of the island. Mirador del Rio is an amazing vista and you will want to bring a camera and a jacket. It can get quite breezy. The views cannot be beat. This vista and the winery tours are two very good reasons to rent a car during your trip. Come for the golf; stay for everything else!

“Tiger knew how to swing a club before he could walk.” So says Tiger Woods’s athletic father, Earl Woods who at that time an amateur golfer.
Eldrick Woods, best known as Tiger Woods, was born on December 30, 1975, in Cypress, CA, near Los Angeles. His father nicknamed him Tiger after an army friend. Tiger was introduced to golf before the age of two. His father coached him on form, stance, and swing. At three, Woods shot a 48 for nine holes. That’s a score many adult golfers would be glad to match! And at age 5, he appeared in Golf Digest and on ABC’s That’s Incredible. Before Woods turned 16, he won an international junior tournament for his age group six times.
While doing well in golf, Woods still decided to go to college in 1994 at Stanford University. It was at Stanford University where he obtained a golf scholarship. He won his first college event, the 40th Annual William H. Tucker Invitational, in September. At Stanford, Woods was named Pacific-10 Conference Player of the Year in 1995 and won the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) individual championship in 1996. Woods also captured three consecutive U.S. Amateur Championships (1994-1996). After the third of these he left college and turned professional, winning two tournaments as a rookie on the 1996 PGA Tour. Read the rest of this entry »
